Evgenia Bazhenova was born in Russia in 1964. She studied contemporary painting and architecture at College of Art and Construction.
Evgenia Bazhenova then worked as a constructer and builder in Saint-Petersburg. In 2003 she moved to England. Here she started to develop her interest in oil and pastel contemporary painting.
As an artist Evgenia has had a recurring interest in male and female nature and body and has created paintngs in the adonis art and nude art genres. The subjects for Evgenia Bazhenova's contemporary paintings are often nude or erotic scene that have to do with both the male and female forms.
From an artist viewpoint Evgenia Bazhenova is also interested in the linear qualities of the subject. The beautiful landscapes and winter scenes provide a constant source of inspiration for her painting and so do still life.
Another motivation factor for Evgenia's art is colour and one in particular the clours of the nude forms and subjects. Bazhenova enjoys the focus and balance the use of white and the many variations of the nude-white colour balance brings to a painting.
Bazhenova's paintings are not overtly textural, but Evgenia creates interest by the careful build up of thin glazes, sometimes over an initial thick layer of paint with the resulting rich effects. Evgenia produces paintings of calm atmospheric scenes with beautiful landscapes and interesting portraits.
Last year she visited Egypt and was inspired by acient Egyptian culture and paintings. Evgenia has done some wonderful paintings in an egyptian art style. Other influences on Evgenia Bazhnova have been the paintings of artists Darren Baker and Thomas Kinkade.
Whatever the subject, Evgenia creates contemporary paintings that are crisp and stark with immediate appeal but they also display enduring qualities. Evgenia uses only the best quality stretched linen canvas and after further careful preparation the finest of brushes to create the precise detailing so evident in her paintings.
